History and Philosophy

Dogs have always played an important role in Yukari Nakamura's life.

Her mother had an Italian greyhound, which very quickly became a loyal companion in her life. Even then, she cooked for the dog herself to feed it as healthy as possible, because the dog food that could be bought was not of high enough quality for her.

When Yukari Nakamura came to Germany, she discovered a great sensitivity for healthy organic food here and also an ever-increasing spread of Japanese cuisine. So she thought, "Why not for dogs too?" At that moment, the idea for SAKURA was born.

Yukari Nakamura wanted to combine the healthy Japanese food culture and the traditional natural preparation of Japanese cuisine with the high-quality food grade ingredients of German organic production. And that is exactly what she has achieved!

SAKURA is the Japanese word for cherry blossom, one of the most famous symbols of Japanese culture. SAKURA has been loved by the Japanese over thousand years, when they look at it with family and friends, symbolising the happiness shared with loved ones.
Cherry blossoms are also considered the gods of grain and represent a bountiful harvest.

Plaiaden® Sakura, which is derived from Japanese food culture and German ingredients in 100% BIO and food quality, is made in the hope that it will bring the happiness of cherry blossoms to many people who live with dogs as an important member of the family.
